Statement Of Faith | |||||||||||||||
|
The following is a brief summary of the doctrinal beliefs of Treasures of Truth Ministries. An extensive statement of faith is on file at the offices of the ministry. 1.
The Scriptures We believe that
the sixty-six books of the Holy Bible are the supernaturally inspired
and
inerrant, Word of the Living God; that they are the only and final
revelation
of God to man; that the scriptures are the final authority for all
matters of
faith and practice; and that they have been providentially preserved by
God down
through the ages (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21; Psalm 119:160;
John
17:17). 2. The Person
of God We believe that
the God of the Bible is the One and only true and Living God; that He
exists in
three persons – God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy
Spirit – each
person being equal in all divine attributes yet maintaining distinct
ministries
within the Godhead (Exodus 20:2, 3; 1 Corinthians 8:6; John 4:26; 2
Corinthians
13:14). 3. Creation We believe that
God created the entire universe along with mankind in a literal six day
time
period with each day being twenty-four hours; that this creation took
place
about six thousand years ago, not millions of years ago as evolution
would
teach. We reject
all forms of compromise
with evolution which would include the concepts of theistic evolution
and
progressive creation (Genesis 1:1; Exodus 20:11; John 1:3; Hebrews
11:3; Acts
17:23-26). 4. The Person
of Jesus Christ We believe that
Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man; that He was God the Son from
eternity
past; that He was the promised Messiah of the Old Testament; was born
of a
virgin; lived a sinless life; died on the Cross as the perfect
substitute for
sinners; was raised from the dead physically and bodily; that He
ascended into
the heavens to make intercession for the saints; and will return bodily
to set
up His future Kingdom (John 1:1-3,14; 8:58; Isaiah 7:14; 9:6, 7; 2
Corinthians
5:21; Acts 1:9-11; Mark 16:1-8; Hebrews 7:25; John 14:1-6). 5. The Holy
Spirit We believe that God the Holy Spirit was active in creation; that He restrains evil in the world; that He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment; that He regenerates, indwells, seals, and baptizes the believing sinner the very moment he receives Christ as his Savior; and that He fills or controls believers as they surrender their lives to Him. We believe that speaking in tongues was never the common or necessary sign of the baptism or filling of the Holy Spirit. Ultimate deliverance of the body from sickness or death awaits the consummation of our salvation in the resurrection, though God frequently chooses to answer the prayers of believers for physical healing (John 14:16, 17; Ephesians 1:13-14; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; 12:12-13; Romans 8:14-16). 6. Satan and
the Angelic Realm We believe that
God created the angels; that as one of those angels Lucifer rebelled
against God
and led a multitude of angels to follow him in that rebellion becoming
demons;
that in his rebellion he became Satan, the great adversary of God and
mankind
and will one day be judged eternally in the lake of fire. The good angels are
faithful servants of God
ministering to the saints and accomplishing God’s purposes in
this world
(Isaiah 14:12-15; Ezekiel 28:14-17; Revelation 12:9; Jude 6; Hebrews
1:14; 1
Peter 5:8; Matthew 4:1-11; 1 Peter 1:12). 7. Man and
Sin We believe that
man was created by God in His own image; that Adam and Eve were the
first
humans; that they were created in innocence but fell by voluntary
transgression
against the law of the Creator. Man
is
now a sinner by birth, by position, and by choice.
Apart from the salvation offered through
Christ, every man will face eternal judgment in the lake of fire
(Genesis 1:26-28;
2:19-24; 3:1-7; Romans 5:12-19; Ephesians 2:1-3; Rev. 20:11-15). 8. Salvation We believe that
a person must receive Jesus Christ as his only Lord and Savior in order
to be
saved; that this reception is through a repentant faith alone and can
never be
earned or merited by any works or good deeds; that the person who has
become
genuinely saved can never lose that salvation, but that there is a
persevering
attachment of God to the believer’s life in which the Lord
continues to work
His holy purpose to bring that person to become, in this life, and
ultimately
in heaven, more and more into the image of Jesus Christ (John 3:1-18;
5:24;
10:27-30; Acts 20:21; Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 3:28; 4:5; 8:28-39; 1
Peter
1:3-5). 9. The Church We believe that
the church is the body of Christ and can be viewed as the family of
God; that
the emphasis of the New Testament is on God’s working His
purpose through Bible
believing local churches which assemble together for the purpose of
worshipping
God, equipping the saints, evangelizing the unsaved, and practicing the
two
ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
There are two officers recognized in the New Testament
church which are
pastors or elders, and deacons (Ephesians 1:16-23; 2:19-22; 3:15;
4:11-16;
Matthew 28:18-20; 1 Timothy 3:1-13; 1 Corinthians 11:23-34; 14:23-25). 10. The
Second Coming We believe in
the pretribulational, premillennial return of Christ; that this coming
will be
personal; that after the rapture or translation of the saints there
will be a
seven year period of tribulation which will culminate in the Second
Coming of
Jesus Christ to set up His kingdom on earth which will last 1,000 years
with
Christ ruling from the literal city of Jerusalem; that the kingdom will
then be
given up to the Father and continue into the eternal state with a new
heavens
and a new earth (John 14:2, 3; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 5:1-9; Daniel
9:24-27;
2 Thessalonians 2:1-3; 2 Peter 3:1-13; Revelation 19:1-20:15). 11.
The Christian Life and Revival We believe that
the Christian should walk by faith in obedience to the Lord and His
Word; that
this life is an abundant life that is superior to anything this world
has to
offer; that God has provided for the believer all the necessary weapons
to be
victorious over the world, the flesh, and the devil, including the
believer’s position
in Christ, the indwelling Holy Spirit, and the Word of God; that this
life
should be one of separation from every evil way and doctrine and toward
God and
His holy principles; that
we should live
in a state of perpetual revival where repentance from sin, answered
prayer,
fellowship with the Lord, and dedication to His will should be a way of
life (1
Peter 4:4; Galatians 2:20; 12. Focus of
Ministry We believe that
the focus of the ministry should be three-fold:
evangelism, revival, and apologetics.
In evangelism we preach the gospel; in revival we promote
God’s way with
the believer and the church; in apologetics we declare the truths of
scripture
to edify the saints and protect the church from error. | ||||||||||||||
